“…we do this party for the hell of it…’cause life is good…” - Nas

As I warned you earlier this week, last night’s party was not something to miss. But for those who did, the photos are up in the gallery. Our photographer Lazo had the task of capturing the event highlights and went above and beyond the call of duty, with fresh pics of the venue and the beautiful crowd. We had DJ Five Star in the booth and host Nas on the mic letting everyone know that “we do this party for the hell of it…’cause life is good.” And last night, life was good. Many special guest joined in on the celebration: Kelis, designer Christian Audigier, Raven Symone, and some of the NFL’s best, including Stephen Cooper, Steve Smith, Dominique Byrd and Lendale White. As you know, the party never ends, so we are kicking off the weekend a day early with a special birthday celebration for Mark Tung at Area Night Club.  Take a peek at last year’s event, and if you think you can keep up with the party, email info@elevatedla.com for more information.

Trick or Treat ?!?

There wasn’t too much candy last night at the Phantom Masquerade Ball (and costume party), but there were plenty of treats! Our first event at Opera Night Club was off the hook, the crew and I rocked the fresh 80’s outfits. Check out the pictures in the Gallery and get ready for the real deal on Halloween Night…

Happy Birthday Kim….

Last night Kim Kardashian and a host of family and friends celebrated her birthday at the super exclusive Les Deux night club. For those of you who received the private invite, thanks for coming through and partying with us. If you didn’t receive the invite, make sure you subscribe to elevatedla.com so that you can be a guest at one of our special events. We have a lot of surprises coming up before the year’s end. It was a lot of work planning this event, but it was truly a great party. Check out the pictures in the Gallery.

Must See Show: “Breaking the Cypher”

I just caught a sneak preview, last night, of “Breaking the Cypher,” tonight’s featured hip hop, break-centric show at the Ford Amphitheatre. I was a little wary of what an hour (and some change) of breaking would entail, but I have to say, it’s something worth seeing.

It’s a unique twist on breaking, then and now. A fast-paced sequence of performances that infuse various elements of dance (like Tango, Salsa, Contemporary, etc.) and other gymnastic-like theatrics into traditional breaking moves. My favorite? Well, I’ll ask: Which came first, Michael Jackson, or the break?

The point is, it doesn’t matter! All dance can live together in harmony. But this show, with all it’s hybrid moves, is still an ode to breaking. It’s so chock full of energy, you’ll have to keep yourself from running up and attempting a head spin…but before you get overzealous, I promise that if you just let the pros handle all the contortions, you’ll enjoy it a lot better.
