If you couldn’t answer the question faster than you read it, your timepiece may be suspect. Last night, the JL boys produced the NOOKA X DDCLAB event in Hollywood at the DDCLAB Los Angeles store. With ever-flowing drinks and rare grooves by Gomez Warren IV, the collaborative event gave invited guests a glimpse of the two brands.

NOOKA, a design company, shared their line of watches that fit as a normal watch with abstract digital displays that make them beyond typical. Having seen a couple of these watches up close, some practice is needed before wearing — as you don’t want to stumble through a response to my initial question. With many styles and colors to choose from, they have pieces for any outfit or occasion. The summer uniform of tees, sneakers and jeans have a new buddy to set a scene off right.

DDCLAB is a product of Roberto Crivello and Savania Davies-Keiller’s design studio DDC USA. This duo is committed to enhancing fashion through emerging technology but never “reinventing the wheel.” So, “The look is the same. It is simple. It is classic. But is now improved. It is fashion technology.” Although my sneakers may be fly, they can’t make me fly — but if it ever happens I know where it will happen first.

“…we do this party for the hell of it…’cause life is good…” - Nas

As I warned you earlier this week, last night’s party was not something to miss. But for those who did, the photos are up in the gallery. Our photographer Lazo had the task of capturing the event highlights and went above and beyond the call of duty, with fresh pics of the venue and the beautiful crowd. We had DJ Five Star in the booth and host Nas on the mic letting everyone know that “we do this party for the hell of it…’cause life is good.” And last night, life was good. Many special guest joined in on the celebration: Kelis, designer Christian Audigier, Raven Symone, and some of the NFL’s best, including Stephen Cooper, Steve Smith, Dominique Byrd and Lendale White. As you know, the party never ends, so we are kicking off the weekend a day early with a special birthday celebration for Mark Tung at Area Night Club.  Take a peek at last year’s event, and if you think you can keep up with the party, email info@elevatedla.com for more information.

Great performances, paired with awards given to all the top talent, made the 50th Grammy Awards consistently entertaining. While I had to catch it on TiVo around 2 am–when i got in from the party–at least I had the opportunity to enjoy it commercial-free.  If you missed any of the performances, you can scan You Tube to find them all. Last night Kim Kardashian and a host of family and friends celebrated her birthday at the super exclusive Les Deux night club. Hustle hard, Eat well, Live Elevated!

Whether viewed as a publicity stunt or an act of God, last night at the T.I. concert 4 of the most influential men in hip hop and entertainment shared the stage and partied together. With money comes power, with power comes respect, and these men can’t be denied. With the hype behind Kanye vs. 50, this type of event helps us keep things in perspective: this is entertainment and business–and a competition between two top artists is healthy for the game. No beef, no fights, no diss records, just a simple call for “May the best man win!”
